Default American Racing Headers

I'm considering buying these headers but have a few questions about them. It looks to me like the x-pipe is placed before the o2 sensors; I would think that this would cause problems as the exhaust gases are mixing before they reach the o2 sensors - left exhaust gas going past the right sensor, etc... Are you guys that are running these headers having any problems with codes? Why did they put the x-pipe before the o2 sensors instead of the more conventional design?

Also trying to get a price quote on these, can anyone tell me what these things are selling for?

Before you respond with "why don't you just call Vette Doctors and ask them" I have tried calling every day this week. I'm sure they are very busy and I've only managed to get their answering machine every time I call. I'm in Africa so I can't leave a call back number. I've also emailed them but have received no reply. Again, I know they are very busy and I understand they don't have time to reply to every email.
Thanks,
Joe

Dont give up.Keep trying to call and email, they will respond. I bought and installed their headers and had no problems what so ever,no codes, and no install problems. They also did a mail order tune for me,so between the new headers and the tune the car runs awesome. The vett doctors are great guys to deal with and will answer any questions you have.Excellent customer service. When jet hot forgot to send my bolts and gaskets back with the headers the vett doctors offered to overnite me another set of gaskets and bolts.
I bought mine a few months ago and really dont remember what i paid,im thinking around 1500.00. I also had jet hot coat them and that was 279.00

Call Chris or Doug at East Coast Supercharging. They will be able to help you with your questions. That is where I bought my American Racing Headers, and had them installed. (609)752-0321

Vette Docs did mine back in February along with a dyno-tune on my 04 6spd. Good point about the x, I never gave it much thought. The only other thing I had questioned is the lack of forward support tabs to bolt to the stock mounts. They said there not really necessary. Car does run way more aggresive than stock and I do like the fact that the cats and x-pipe are welded as a single unit. No leaks or rattles. Overall seems like a well made product. Also all stainless. Good luck and Happy Vetting!

There's more torque with the X up front. My TPIS/Dr. Gas setup was simular, I lost torque going to Kooks.

Thanks for all of the responses,
Bubba,
What did the mail order tune involve? Do I have to have a handheld programmer, do I have to take the chip out of my computer and send it to them, or do they send a chip? I live at 6500ft elevation, so I'm also wondering if they can adjust for that in a mail order tune.
Thanks again,
Joe

You mean that I lost torque going from the TPIS to the Kooks? I'll have to call Vette Drs and demand a refund

The upstream sensors are located in the collectors ahead of the x-pipe. The downstream sensors are not needed and have been deleted on my car.

You just pull the computer out of the car(its behind the passenger side front tire) and send it with the information on your car, then they do a tune on the computer and send it back. Took less than a week total.

If you can't get an answer, call Melrose headers. Great headers, and service and they do answer their phone.
