This is on a 99 with the active/passive remote. I programmed the one remote I got with the car the other day, and today I went out to do a couple of things with the remote in my pocket and the car CONSTANTLY cycled to either lock or unlock on it's own every 10-15 seconds or so, with me being constantly within the remote range??
Whatcha think?? Faulty remote, or other. I tried switching the passive arm mode off on the remote and it didn't make a difference. Thanks.
The switch built into the remote.. is kind of made... like... junk... If you are sure.. like me... you never want the Passive thing... open the remote... look at the Silver Bell shaped thing... and cut the one wire coming from it... Now... you are free to lock and un-lock... with the push of the button.. not the Passive feature...

I'm having the same problem and was hoping this solution would work but I have several questions. 1st. I opened the fob took it all apart but I fail to see the wire that is suppose to be coming from it that you are talking about to cut. 2nd. Are you talking about the case portion of the fob or the transmitter piece? This fob is driving me crazy flashing locking unlocking. Man I sure hope you get back to me on this. Am I missing something here in how to do this? Help!

If you pull the fob apart, then pull the board out of the fob, you'll see a little bell looking thing towards the top. There should be a wire coming out of the flat side and turning down and into the board. Use a pair of wire cutters and snip this wire. I'll see if I can't get a picture later (gotta head to the shop to flow/CC my TFS LT1 Heads).

Is it the one the looks sort of like a thimble (sp)? I see what you have described and I thought that is the only thing with a wire attached to the bell or thimble looking thing. I really appreciate you following up!

Yeah, you could call it a thimble. Hold on for a little while and I'll post up a pic so you can be sure.
One quick question on this matter... uhhh I can turn that option off on the little led computer thing over the steering wheel on my 99... its under options, why do surgery that is almost irreversable if you can do it with the push of 3 buttons electronically?

I think you're mistaking the remote function with the car function of locking/unlocking the doors with speed/ignition in the car.
You can turn it off on the dash.. but the remote will still send signal.. and eat up the battery... also as for it being NOT reversable.. you can always solder the wire back in 2 minutes... I never will

Glad I browsed through here tonight. Yeah, my horn kept honking while I was in the convenience store tonight....I thought it was somebody else's. Ha! Guess what surgery I'll be doing in the morning? Thanks for the great tip!
I had the same problem on my 99. I took a small screwdriver
and applied pressure to the on-off switch while moving it back
and forth. Everything worked fine afterwards. I assume there
must have been some type of corrosion in the switch.
