Took the car to the track today, and i got about what i expected from the programmer. It ran a best of 13.28@106.5 mph, when previous best was 13.47 @105. This is with the 2.73 gear A4. With the programmer it was also MUCH more consistent, due to the fans cooling it better with the 160 thermo. I had the shift points at +3, and +8. Just barely shifted into third at the finish line. Best 60' went from 2.09 previously, to 2.02. Now it looks like im gonna have to get some tires, since it wants to spin a little now. Best MPH of the night was 107.25. I was quite surprised to see that much MPH. Weather was about the same as last week HOT AND HUMID. IMHO, the programmer is a must for all A4 cars.
Great Runs, Thanks for posting as I just loaded mine up a few weeks ago and I have noticed a postive SOTP feel, your numbers confirm my feelings.

The color is Nassau Blue. There was a pewter one there. I didnt see what he ran, it was also a 2.73 A4. Last week there was a 3.15 auto running 13.3 with halltech tric intake, corsa exhaust, and MAF ends.
thanx! it's always helpful when folks post real-live data points. However, I was under the impression that the common belief of the HPP3 is that it's a great mod to firm up the shifts and thus affect SOTP feel, but really should not count on real track performance gains??? Your post sure substantiates performance gains. I already have the PL on my C5, but am deciding which way to go for the Tahoe....
This is a great post and fits in well with some data that I've been collecting... From what I have gathered reading the forum, doing personal testing and talking to friends, the base A4 with 2.73's can be made to turn in 13.5-13.7 sec 1/4's once you are used to launching... Initial testing I had done yielded a 14.1 followed by a 13.68 back when the car was totally stock, but broken in.
From everything I have gathered, air will give you .2-.3... It has also been the trend that *either* PCM programmer is giving *2.73* people .2-.3 on average. This is just based on the postings I've been collecting from here and my personal experiences and conversations...
It seems to me that a 2.73 with air and a PCM job (PLII or HPP3) should take you down to 13.2 or 13.3 on good launches...
Another thing that seems to fit is what the addition of 3.42's and a TC would do. It seems that the 3.42's and TC generally give you .5 which would take those times down to 12.7-12.8 assuming you can get the traction. High twelves seems right from what I have seen of the A4 guys running 3.42, TC, PLII and air...
Comments? This has all been a great learning experience on the inner workings of a car for me, btw...

Adjusting firmness won't help much but raising shift points can. If you can either reduce the number of shifts during the quarter (which was the goal here) or spend more time nearer the peak of your powerband (or said another way, less time way off peak) you should see better times. When I raised mine, not quite so much because I'm a chicken :bb, I picked up maybe a tenth or so.
LovintheC5, I would be interested to hear if you think you can raise them (safely) just a teeny bit more and sneak through in 2nd. ;) This is the one place where the 2.73 offers a little advantage at the dragstrip.
I have been told by MTI that you should not have the car shift over 6300 rpm with the stock springs. At +3 on first shift its shifting right at 6300, and at +8, its shifting right at 6310. Both right on the edge. I wouldnt raise them any more unless i got new springs, especially for maybe .003 difference in 1/4 mile time. Im pretty pleased with the results, and i think with some cold weather, MAYBE i can hit 12.9999999....And when i get the spray put on, hopefully 12.0...(dont want a cage)
