Default Z28 Shift **** on 2000 Vette?

So I've been driving my old 97 Z28 for most of my adult life, but now I bought a Vette. I was hoping to bring the old shift **** (standard stock ball) to the new car, but the sizes are evidently different. Anyone know of an adapter for this so I can keep some heritage? Talking about M6 - M6 here, btw. Thanks.

I liked the big leather ball in my '94 Camaro better than the stock **** on the C5, too. I ended up replacing both of them with Hard Bar Delrin *****, though.

Sorry, I haven't seen an adapter, but, if you really want to put the leather ball on, epoxy putty impregnated with steel or aluminum might be a way to MacGuyver it.

If you just prefer the feel of something more like a ball, there are lots of ball-like shift ***** out there. Good luck in your search, and welcome to the forum!

I remember that some of the Hurst T shift handles used to come with 4 or 5 threaded alluminum adapter sleeves. Alot of speed shops carried them. The only problem with that is that the outer thread on the sleeve, which is the one that screws into the shift ****, would have to be the right size to fit YOUR shift ****. It may be worth a look. If you get lucky and it fits, you just find the correct inner sleeve thread size that fits the shifter in your car. You can always return the item.

Thanks for the thought, but it's more than the feel - I've been shifting this ball (no filthy jokes, please ) for damn near a quarter of my life at this point. It's family. Will check out the adapter idea, though. If anyone has a link to a store with something similar, I'd be appreciative.

I actually bought one of the leather Z28 shifter ***** new from Chevy as I didn't like the feel of the stock shifter. It was the only leather ball shape I could find. I simple drilled it out, and then got a treaded insert from a local hardward store and expoxyed it in. While I had the **** off, I also cut about an inch off the stock shifter, which made the throw much shorter, and then screwed on the new shifter ball. I have been using it for about three years now and really like it.
