I just started hearing a whining noise from under the hood. I have a 2000 vert with no mods under the hood and 30K on the clock. Its not there all the time, not too loud either. It seemed to quiet down a bit when I turned the wheel, then came back when I straightened out.
I thought it might be a loose belt, but its not that high pitched screech that you get from a belt. Could it be a pump going bad?
Any suggestions before I bring it in and get ripped off for ignorance would certainly be appreciated!
My oil filler cap seal went bad and it sounded like a high pitched vaccuum leak. Drove me crazy forever trying to pinpoint it until one day I pulled the cap with the car running and figured it out. Not sure if thats the sound you are hearing but thought I'd chime in.
