Default A few C5 problems...

Hi!

I have a few "quirks" on my car. (2000 C5) Going to take it to a garage and have them looked at, but want to hear your opinion first.

1. After I washed the engine a few days ago I got a Check engine light. Checked the DIC codes and the culprit is "P0410 AIR System". I cleared it out and the light went away a few days ago, but today it showed up again. Any ideas as to what's might be wrong? Costley repair??

2. Driving over speedbumps I hear a squiking noise from my front suspention. Back is quiet. Sounds like some bushings might need lube or something??

3. My remote has stoped working after a main battery disconect. Tried to resync and pair the remote to the car again, but it only works for a short while (matter of minuits). Main battery is healty. These RFA codes show up:
U1016 Loss of Communication with PCM
U1064 Loss of Communication with BCM
U1096 Loss of Communication with IPC
have changed battrey in both remotes with same result. Any ideas?

4. My airbag light turns one once in a while. I have isolated it to when the car is hot inside the coupe (live in arizona) . After the aircondition has run for a while it goes away every time, and if it's not hot in the coupe to begin with I never get the light. No DIC codes. This one puzzles me...

That's it, other then that my car is perfect!
Hope somebody can help...

Sleepy, check out the sticky that lists everything you need to know about C5's. There is recall info, known problems (and fixes) as well as specs and descriptions.

I got your #1 error a few times and then I tuned it out with software. It's related to your electric AIR pump and/or the piping and valves associated with it. I started getting the error after my vararam was installed and I didn't want to mess with it. Many members tune out the AIR system if they're headed to the dyno for any tuning anyway. Otherwise I would check the AIR hoses to make sure they're not clogged or bent funny.

#2 I had a few squeaks from the front of my car and I was sure it was suspension. However I lubed (with silicone grease) and adjusted my front hood stops and the noises went away. Check that first. When the hood is down and latched you shouldn't be able to grab it and move it up and down at all.

#3....no idea what that is...check all fuses and connections that are easy to get to.

Hello

Clean the tangs on the relays in the main fuse box under the hood. Used fine sand paper.

Front squeek..... I just had my front sway bar bushings replaced and lubed. No more Front squeek

However I now hear the back squeeking. Which leads me to ask......

Does anyone know the usefull life of the factory shocks?
