my engine bay could use a cleaning.. can i power wash under the hood without messing anything up??? my valve covers are pretty nasty also.. any ideas??
I have VERY CAREFULLY used a car wash, but most people will tell you not to do that. Another way is to use something like "Simple Green" and a garden hose, it works good and seems to be pretty safe. But with No pressure. Just let the Simple green do it's work, and the let the water rinse it off with a gentle flow. And don't run any water under the intake, you can cause problems with the knock sensors. Then after you wash it, I would take a drive and run the motor until it got up to full temp for a while to dry out everything.
I use the car wash hose I leave the car started never had any problems with it.......now I have a cold air intake ...think it will be trickey to wash now
Do you have to cover up the coil packs with plastic or foil ? I know to cover the alt. up, but prolly have to the packs as well right ? Or will they be ok with a light trickle of water on/around them ?
I have been powerwashing mine for over 20k miles and no problems but I always.
1. stay away from my blackwing.
2. hit it with wax and then spot free rinse.
3. drive it for 20 miles to make sure that there is no water left in the engine bay.
