this will be going on a 99 hardtop (stock but plan to mod later in the future) what else will i need to run this (dont really want togo in twice for a small problem) and is this too much of a clutch? (dont plan on making anymore than 500 to the flywheel.
If it was me and I was going to stay at 500 flywheel hp, why not go with the Z07 clutch and the 04 Z06 slave and master cylinder as you will have a clutch with a stock feel that is rated from the factory for what you want. Do a search on this topic and you will find quite a few happy members with this setup. I do not know anything about the RAM clutch setup and know if the Z07 setup is put in a 427 it should be just fine behind a 346
I had problems with that clutch. Supposedly they were bent during shipping. I couldn't get the holes to line up with the flywheel. They sent me another one and I took it straight to my balancer who had the same problem but was able to make the hole(s) bigger to mount it and he got it to balance fairly easy. That one ate itself within ~1000 miles on the street, no tracking. Never heard of anyone else having these kinds of problems with a RAM but I know I'll never buy another one.
I can't say I'd get an LS7 either though as I have heard of them exhibiting the pedal to the floor that the LS1 and LS6 clutches do.
