My recommendation for tools is a 16mm open or combination wrench, a ratchet with 15mm socket to remove the caliper bolt, and rather than the C clamp, get yourself a Channelock tongue and grove plier along with a small and thin piece of wood to push in the caliper pistons.

It's quite effortless.
You dont need a piece of wood... just use one of the old pads.. to push the pistons back...
It is always recommended that you open the bleeder valve before forcing the calipers open. If your pads have seen a lot of abuse, there will be a lot of sludge behing the pistons. You do not want to force this crap back up the tubing.
