I have a customer that has a 2003 C5 6 speed. He would like to have installed a set of headers on his car that would link up to his already existing B & B Triflow mufflers.Has anyone had any experience with this installation. Can anyone recommend a brand name to install. Can these be installed without a lift? Any input would be appreciated, even the horror stories. Roger
Rodger,
The Tri Flow’s exit the same way the stock mufflers do so any complete LT setup (headers, cats, X pipe) would bolt right up, but it would require getting under the car. Shortys would also bolt up but from the top mostly. You can get under by taking off the front tires. LT’s generally give more power than ST’s and the difference is more evident, the more engine mods you do. Hope this helped. - C.
Thanks for the reply Mr.C.I can get the car up 24 inches off the ground.Do you think that would be high enough for the "long tube" headers?Do you know of a good brand?

Roger,
Stainless Work, FLP, LG's, STP, KOOKS, etc, etc., all make long tube header systems (recommend getting the complete system ~ everything will fit that way) and you shouldn't have any problem connecting any of these to the B&B Exhaust system. Cost for any of these complete systems could run anywhere between $1500 - $2200 (depents on which system you go with and who you buy them from)
I would recommend using a lift, but some folks have done the complete Header System install with rams. . . . . I used a lift all three times I did my header system installs. Life's hard enough why make it harder
OK, there's my 2 cents. . . hope it helped . . . good luck.

i just got tsp new headers installed they are great my car dynoed 335 rwhp stock with only headers and x pipe on my 01, besides that completly stock down to the paper filter
and i believe there around 650 ish www.texas-speed.com
Thanks everyone for the info. Are there any negitives to these headers like extra "heat"requiring shields or "running" requiring computer mods.
If your customer keeps his cats, or uses the hi-flow cats that are options on all the complete systems, he may get by without tuning. Without cats, you will either have to tune it or buy O2 simulators to keep the rear O2 sensors from throwing codes. Either way, the car will certainly run better with a tune to get the AFR right.
