I have one, it was one of my first mods. I thought the same thing - but i figure i would give it a shot and if it did not work immediately i would send it back for a full refund (except for frt back). I know some people on the CF don’t believe they work but "feeling is believing". I installed mine about 1 and 1/2 years ago and could feel an immediate difference off the line. I was spinning tires much easier and it was very peppy off the line. From 3500 rpm and up I could not feel a difference. I read somewhere where the velocity stack work well on the bottom end but can restrict a little at the upper rpm range. The velocity stack smoothes the air coming into the T/B but in doing so it does add about 2mm of plastic that would restrict it slightly in WOT. If your more worried about off the line performance AND don’t have a bunch of mods planned for the future then go for it. If you plan on doing a bunch of mods in the near future then spend the money on a ported T/B for a little over $100.00. The ported T/B wont restrict the WOT (It should help) and it would be peppier off the line as well.
