Headers...just how loud?
So, from my understanding, Headers do not add *that* much HP, but they do change the "voice" of a C5. What exactly does this mean? Deeper voice? Or is it Deeper & louder? If it does get louder, about how much are we talking? I was thinking shorties by the way...
I currently have Corsa tourings (however I believe they are actually Indy's, the invoice inside the box had someone else's name, and "Indy's" listed. They are pretty loud...and I like them! Wish I knew for sure which ones they were!). I have no X-pipe (yet...but would headers make these necessary?
The only other mods I have is the twin flow air intake and the air bridge / coupler combo.
thanks for all help

With headers, my car was measured at 115db at WOT.
I also picked up 23RWHP and 23RWTQ with my header install.
I know it's not *that* much, but I certainly felt it and it showed on the dyno.
I have the B&B triflos with an x-pipe and had TPIS headers installed.. There was no discernible difference in the sound..Just a tad more aggressive on startup, but other than that, the headers didn't make the car any louder...
As far as hp is concerned, I gained approximately 14 rwhp and 15 rwtq...
Hope this helps...

A few more questions to throw out there:
1) Are there any disadvantages to headers (besides price)? driveability? idle? Power band change? anything?
2) Installs...How much have you paid for this install, or how long did it take YOU to put them in?
3) On the engine sound part....anyone have any sound clips with headers? before and after would be cool...but everything helps!

2.) the install should only take 4 hours or so, but you will need to do welding to make sure everything lines up. It all depends on the header you're installing.
3.) Click here Sorry it's only the "after" sound.
I have a 99 with Corsa Indys and a few weeks ago I installed some shorty headers and at WOT it's quite a bit louder and a little deeper. I'm thinking about a X pipe to mellow it out. I have received quite a few compliments about "how mean" my car sounds while sitting at stop lights...

As far as sound goes, I have Corsa Indy's with an X-pipe. It was fairly loud before the headers, but it is seriously loud now. Perfect for the track, but dicey if the law is around.
I really don't think shorty's are worth the effort. JMHO.
Considering we are both running with a Corsa exhaust...how is the resonance after the header install - is it still a non-issue? I love this so much about the corsa system, would hate to change that!
Also, Chris mentioned an increase of heat in the cockpit, anyone else notice this?
