WTF, Radio trim panel
What the heck is the panel the surrounds the radio all the way to the armrest made out of?
It is starting to flake off. It looks like a layer of panel is coming off and exposing a shiny leather like panel. I know the panel is original, I knew the last owner.
Anyone else have this problem?

I looked it up it was $86. But how can it have layers? This is a new one for me. I did a search and found nothing.

This is a common problem w/ the C5 radio trim surround. Many owners have experienced this problem (myself included). You can:
1. Buy a new one
or
2. Sand the surround, paint and varnish it.
I did #2 a few years ago--cost me $20 for spray paint and varnish.

not sure what you're asking... it is painted, paint is coming off... sound plausible to you?

Your interior plastic panels by the dash, radio and console were painted (coated) with a flat black finish at the factory. All the heat that comes up off the exhaust and you leg rubbing against console wears through the coating.
You could remove the coating with some paint thinner and some elbow grease or you can re-paint them.
I bought the hyro painted ones from Vette Essentials, they guaranteed for life.
