Default Turbo VS Supercharger

Hey guys!!! I'm now a sales person at Guildford Volkswagen and my pay has gone up...which means TIME FOR MORE MODS ....so whats the better route to take....a turbo setup or a supercharger...my engine has been redone by GM due to the oil consumption thing and it is running flawlessly now...changed the spark plugs and one of the wires...that was the problem from my last post here (cylinder misfire)...changed the airfilter to another stock one and it has actually made the car run smoother...AIR FILTER WAS REALLY REALLY DIRTY :o ....anyways back to the topic...TURBO OR SUPERCHARGER?? I don't want to really get forged internals just because that looks like it'd be too much work then...I want to get the most horsepower out of my stock engine...what would work best??? NOS IS NOT AN OPTION!!! Who is a good vendor for either one of these and around how much would it be??? Any help would be appreciated..

Thanks guys

I think the STS exhaust mounted turbos look pretty cool, seem to perform well and look like a clean, easy install.

I would call Andy at A&A or Chris/Doug and ECS and get one of there blower kits, I have no issues with my A&A setup. Both of there setups are complete kits and they put out anywhere between 500-550 rwhp

I've had both. If you have the loot I'd go with twin turbos.

Just wondering why - bad experiences with SC? Or TT that much better? Seems to be a rather large difference in cost. $8-10K vs $15 and up.

I have a P1SC from A&A and the car runs very well! However believe you'll always want more.
I also said that 550 HP at the crank is crazy power and that it will be enough, believe me, you'll get used to it! I regret not going with a D1SC head unit from the start (more room to increase power down the road).
I will be going with a forged block down the road (346 or 408, but I have time to take my decision) and will also certainly sell my SC kit and go with a Turbo kit (FFHP since they are affordable and a single turbo is enough for my goal, which will be around 750 RWHP).
So If I had to do it again, I would have gone the turbo route (twin turbo or single, whatever was available). No oil change, no belt issues, more power through the curve, more room for power increase!
That's coming from a SC guy who starts to regret his choice

Nothing like a TT setup. I have a TTi Stage 1 and am very happy with it. If you want more power the TTi X twin turbo setup is excellent also. Check in the F/I forum someone posted one for sale for $7500.00 http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1411223

For that kind of power i think you won't be able to stay with that stock engine for long. Plus you have to factor in breakage If you want to stay stock you probably should stay in the 500 rwhp range.

Who said he wanna stay stock??? At least I hope he don't plan to do so. forged is the only way to go(346 or 408), the stock bottom end wouldn't resist
FFHP offers two turbo kits, one for stock cubes with a smaller turbo (good to 900 RWHP on a 346 with proper fuel system and so on) and a bigger turbo (they call it the race kit) for bigger motors like 408s. Therace kit made 702 RWHP on a 408 at 10 PSI (1000 RWHP is easily possible on a 408)
Here is their site:

or go visit the forced induction section of the forum, they are running a sale right now (small turbo kit for $5100 and the race kit for $7100). No reason to go SC at those prices

Just realised their site is under construction. Give them a call or just post in their thread in the FI section!

They just started selling them and the price has gone up already!

New prices.........

It looks like a pretty nice kit and from the looks of Fast Cash's car, it'll run too!

The TTi X that's in the for sale section is a good deal too.

From what I see around here, if you got a BIG raise and the dough is burning a hole in your pocket, turbo is the way to go, but the price of admission is higher.

The ECS or A&A systems are proven to work and will put out some SERIOUS power too, and are quite a bit cheaper. They both come with Everything that you'd need to supercharge your car for $5500-$6500. That's not too bad for 500+ rwhp easily without it breaking a sweat.

Either one will make more than enough power to put a rod through your block (if not forged).

The new Kenne Bell is out too, and will make more low end torque than anything out there (besides nitrous), but requires a new hood that's included in the kit. It's still in the unproven stages, but it looks promising.

Best of Luck with your choice and that's a mighty nice looking pair of cars you've got there!

I think that Mark will agree with me on this one. A SC kit just seems cheaper than Turbo but that's not true. You need to add the price of some Long tube headers with the SC which increase the cost:
FFHP Race kit complete: $7400 normal price (7100 on sale)

Supercharger from A&A (Vortech head unit): $5500 + $1500 for headers = $7000 (A bit more for the Paxton kit from ECS)
For pretty much the same price you a Turbo (no belt issues, more power, no balancer issues, no oil filling )
I however agree with you that the SC will still make some crazy power. I only have a P1SC (9 PSI) and I think that it's really a lot for a street car (but I'am addicted to power and still want more , I don't even know if its gonnabe useable on the street )

PUREFUN,

What were your final dyno numbers? I can't say that I ever remember you posting them.

so if i were to get this race kit for $7100 that would mean i would have to forge the internals on the engine right away to avoid breakage??? if so how much is it to forge the internals???
