It will give you maximum clamping pressure. I did it with mine. Just depress the fingers in a press (if not installed in vehicle) and take two screwdrivers and slide the tabs counter-clockwise.
So this is probably very very necessary to do before installing the new clutch I assume? Funny as I've never heard about this... in all my reading about C5 clutches. Thanks for your advice!
After reading about the procedure in my service manual, I had this done to my 2002 Z06 during the clutch install. I wanted to be certain that the pedal engagement point was not near the floor. By adjusting the PP before the install, the engagement point was about at the midpoint-out of travel. Right where I wanted it.
BTW, again this adjustment can't be done once the clutch is installed. And I was the first requester for this adjustment that the shop had had.
