Default Quick question about high-octane fuel

I plan to go to the strip this weekend here in Las Vegas. It is going to be between 100-105 at the time we go racing. I just found a place that sell 100 octane fuel. I was thinking to buy several gallons so that I don’t have any pinging or detonation problems. My car is almost stock, but in this heat, this problem is very common. Are there any problems to using this fuel for the day?

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

93 octane is fine for a stock engine. You might lose Hp using 100 octane since ur engine isnt a high compresson motor that needs it..Or boosted engine. i think i would use 96 at the most. Mix a couple gallons of AV gas with 92-93 and u should be fine

Here in Vegas the premium fuel is only 91. So I guess I will just add a few gallons to bring up the octane a little. This is correct, Right?

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

If you are having knock retard (KR) backing out timing higher octane fuel will help. KR can be caused by oil getting into the cylinders (common problem), heat, or heavy deposits in the chambers. A little unleaded race gas mixed in with the pump gas can't hurt.

TORCO.
Buy some torco to add whenever you need it. one can will bring you up 3 or 4pts so 91 will be 94 octane. it's cheaper as well. JBSBLOWNC5 sells 6 packs or 5 gallon jugs. it help prevent detonation in high heat situations.

If you're not getting KR then it's a waste of money and you can actually lose HP.

has anyone tested Torco's claim? about 3 years ago my brother(supercharged 5.0 Mustang 6.70s at 105 in the 1/8)had contact with Torco and they said the same thing, i have a friend who works for the state of Florida testing gas at gas stations(to make sure the octane is correct)at double the recommended dose it raised octane only about .5 of a point.(he gave me a print out of the test) it may stop detonation but i don't think it raises octane. my .02 cents. please correct me if i'm wrong and you've had it tested.

Torco not only stops detonation, but raises octane as well!!

I've used it in every tankful for the last 4 years..

I've tested it on the track, dyno and street, taking scans and checking for KR.

I also spent a pretty penny mixing 1 quart can with 10 gallons of 91 octane and sent it to a lab for testing.
Here are the results:

Thanks Joel! I opened the Torcokim file with my wife sitting next to me.
I had to explain it was a fuel additive infomercial and see said "yea right"

That's going to cost me.
