Default C5 light bulb identification assistance needed please

i found this application guide at sylvania.com
http://www.sylvania.com/ConsumerProd...de/default.htm

and it says the '99 C5 uses a 2057 bulb for the backup light - is this accurate?

has anyone replace all of their bulbs? if so, can someone divulge the quantity of each bulb in this list (if it is accurate) for the rest of us
as i found a site called http://www.autolumination.com that sells replacement LED bulbs that are direct replacements - so NO SOLDERING, NO SEPERATE RESISTORS, NO B.S.
so i'm getting ready to mod the interior with LEDs (if you can call switching out bulbs a mod!)

yes that # is correct for the reverse lights.

if you need the equivalent LED reverse light it is 1157.

i thoguht the 2 might have different bases - how can an 1157 LED and a 2057 be the same "input" - isn't the 1157 old school "press and twist" with one contact on the end of a metal "barrel"? and i'm thinking the 2057 is press in with a contact on either side of a plastic end on the bulb.

what i'm trying to do is buy hiperwhite bulbs for my backup lights and my license plate light for that blue glow
i will then be swapping out ALL my bulbs with LED on the inside from

The 1157 and the 2057 are basically the very same bulb. The 2057 is a newer version. The only difference are the wattages (number of lumens, etc). They are both a round "push and twist" design, with two contacts on the bottom since they are each a dual filament bulb. It's the 1156 and 2056 that are the single contact single filament bulbs.
A 3057 on the other hand is also a dual filament bulb but is of the newer straight press in type design.

Robert

guess i'll get those 1157 LEDs then!
seems ODD that a backup light would have more than one contact - i don't think my truck has that - it has 1156
but oh well, guess i can't make that big of a mistake getting the 1157 for trial
thanks
oh, and anyone who feels like trying to put some more quantities on the part numbers on the rest - FEEL FREE
i'd like to replace all of my incandescent bulbs with LEDs inside the car!

I have seen this a few times on some vehicles over the years. Dual filament incandescent bulbs have one filament that is significantly larger (much higher light output) than the other filament, which is much thinner and smaller. The larger filament of the two is typically used for brake light, turn signal and 4-way emergency purposes only and is normally "off". The smaller one serves as a tail light only and is on when the vehicle's lights are turned on. Without checking a spec book on these bulbs, I would still venture to say that the larger filament of a dual filament bulb puts out far more light than the single filament in a single filament bulb, i.e. 1156 or 2056 for example.
These bulbs and their respective socket designs have been around for many years, and therefore are fairly inexpensive to produce and manufacture. The GM designers in our case spec'd a dual filament bulb and socket, wherein only the larger filament (much brighter) is used. In this case it's for our back-up lights. The smaller filament is not used in this case.
It's just a cost effective way of accomplishing something without "re-inventing the wheel" every time a new model vehicle comes out.
HTH,
Robert

I am going to guess that there are LED compatible flasher relays for C5 vettes, so that one doe snot have to install resisters at each LED.

I just did a complete LED swap out on my KIA Sorento and it worked out beautifully. The LED compatible Flasher relay was key in preventing hyperflashing and eliminating the need for resisters on each LED.
