I was told that upgrading my throttle body would be a waste of time and money. You may want to do some research beforehand.

You can get your stock TB ported and polished for approx. $75 to $100, which improves throttle response and improves air flow for a little more hp/tq, when done in conjunction with a H/C upgrade. I'm happy with the work that Mark Shaner did on my '04 Stock TB. BTW - Nice Color!

I have ported the TBs in all of my cars. Realisitically speaking, you are not going to get a lot of power out of it, but if you have an aftermarket cam and heads on the car, it definately compliments the increased flow of those parts. People pay $1000 for an exhaust that makes 10-15 HP, I think $75-$150 for 7-12 HP is well worth the money. Just my .02.

Stock size 97-04 is 75 mm. You can go to about 80 mm with the LS1 or LS6 intake manifold.

The better billet TBs, like the Callaway 78 mm unit, will provide an additional 4-6 RWHP. You can come close to that by porting you're existing TB.

I was going to buy a larger TB and when the vendor asked what my goals were for my car, they steered me else where. If you plan on supercharging your car or other force induction setups it is something to look into, but porting and polishing is the way to go.

I have a heads and cam setup and I am still running the stock TB and have plenty of air flow, but I foresee a porting and polishing in my future!
