I am switching my car to manual steering do you guys think i should do buy an aftermarket rack or remove the pump from the stock one and have lines going from one side to the other to keep fluid in it? Thanx
interesting, 10 years ago i remember the 5 liter stangs using a short belt at the track, sometimes the fluid would puke out of the res., this is the first i've heard of anyone intersted with a C5
I would try just connecting the pressure and return lines and try it before investing in a new rack. Be prepared to do some heavy steering. I had a 56 vette that I used to road race(lightened to 2800 lbs) with a lengthened pitman arm and 11" tires on the front. I was a 5'9" 200 lb. body builder at the time and I could not turn the wheel if the car was not moving.
