I am planning on installing the TB Bypass from Halltech tonight. The instructions are a little vague so I was wondering whether or not I have to drain any of my radiator fluid or not. It fails to mention this in the instructions. Obviously, I am not going to pull the hose off while the engine is hot or anything, but I was wondering if I indeed pull the hose off, if my radiator fluid is going to start spraying all over my engine bay or something.

i did it with out draining any fluid. i just had 2 small pairs of vise grip pliers and pinched the 2 hoses .took only a few soconds to do it...... on my 95 i just had my dad pinch the hoses for me . it took all of 30 seconds to do it . a little will come out of the throttle body but only a few ounces . it will look like a gallon. hope this helps. I uninstalled the TBB on my '97 for improved driveability during the winter months. I did not drain the radiator and only had a small amount of fluid leakage. If I had it to do again I'd clamp the hoses and put a couple rags under them to catch anything that leaked out. I wouldn't bother to drain the radiator. Remember there will be some fluid in the throttle body that you may want to blow out and catch rather than letting it leak out on it's own.
Re: Throttle Body Bypass Install Questions: (wstory1)
I did mine when I changed the Thermostat. I read on http://www.installuniversity.com that you should put a rag underneath to catch any fluid coming out. I got some vacuum caps from the local autozone to cover the throttlebody tubes from getting dirt in them. For safety sake, I used a cable tie to secure the bypass to the airbridge, I didn't want it to fall and rub on the large pulley just underneath, it hardly noticeable.
Re: Throttle Body Bypass Install Questions: (bwhitmore)
No draining here. I did have to take off or at least unscrew the upper radiator support housing. just those two lil bolts there. It was TIGHT on there. On the TB, it drip a lil, but not much. I did CUT the hoses on the TB, because they were on TIGHT as hell and I was taking off my TB anyways for other stuff. Easy mod, but I do not think it does a whole lot...but the red hose looks nice :D
Re: Throttle Body Bypass Install Questions: (bwhitmore)
You should get a new hose instead of the bypass kit. One end of the hose to the radiator the other to the engine (drivers side of throttlebody). It looks much better and the cost is about $3.

bassfisher,
Sorry I do not remember the hose size. I took the short hose at the engine side with me to my local hardware store and bought a high temp/high pressure hose in the same size. I also put a clamp on each side, not the stock ones but the type you need a screwdriver to tighten up.
