I have a 98 vette(6 speed) that is stock except for a K&N air filter. I am thinking about hyperteching the car. I spoke to someone at Hypertech today that claims it adds another 17HP. Has anyone done this to there car and could they feel the difference? Also, any other performance suggestions that are affordable. First, just want the car. Then, you start wondering what you can do to make it faster.

I used it on my '02 and it makes a difference you feel immediately.

Gutting the precats, adding a Z06 catback, and an intake also helps.

I've heard good things about the HPIII - except for the rear gear scaling bug (for A4's). But since you have a 6 speed, then this isn't a problem.

I previously used the Hypertech which was good for resetting the rad fan settings and line pressure/shift points (A4) however I really didn`t notice much if any of an performance gain other than cooler temps and stiffer shifts.

For just a tad more money I bought a Vinci/Crane programmer which far surpassed the results of the Hypertech!
In addition to several pre-set tunes ranging from stock to headers/intake, blower, etc (important as you add mods) it also allows you to adjust the air/fuel ratio, timing, etc.
In addition, the customer support from Vinci was superior to Hypertech`s as they have countless hours of R&D and know which settings will benefit YOUR application.

Whichever you choose, good luck.

Hypertech added around 12rwhp for me. Remember that the hypertech advances timing and you may experience some pinging issues, which will actually lower your hp numbers.. I run 94-95 octane to combat this issue. No problems . Use the highest octane gas available with this programmer.
