Default How many volts does your vette run?

I noticed tonight while it was idling the lights would flicker. It said it was from 11.9 to 12.3 volts. I put a new alternator on it last year. Does this seem kinda low?

below a certain RPM the alternator does nothing... give it enough gas to get the engine speed up to 1200rpm's or so and see if it is putting out a better number then

Default Battery Voltage

I had a similar prolem with flickering HVAC and radio displays. My battery voltsge was also jumping all over the map from 12.3 -- 12.8v. I found that my positive battery cable was loose. I tighten the cable, and the voltage reading on the DIC now ranges from 13.9v - 14.1v.

In some early models, the DIC isn't accurate.

I was kinda wondering that. I have a volt tester so I will have to check it.

Just had the same problem (low readings). Tightened the positive cable-reading at 14.1 now

I too have this issue. I screwed the positive and negative cables down and got a little more. Mine reads 13.1 on a real good day with no extras on.

My oem three year old GM battery showed 13.8 volts w/o air conditioning on. I just put in an OPTIMA 75/35...shows 14.1 w/o air conditioning and 13.9 volts with it on.

Do you ever get the "Charge System Fault" error? I run about 13.1 also. I started getting the error about two months ago. The car still starts up, but the message is beginning to bother me and I am wondering if I need to get it looked at.

My DIC and hand held volt meter both read 14.2 right after start-up and if I check it after coming in from a drive it is usually 13.8 or 13.9. It really does not deviate much from those numbers.

13.9 to 14.1 generally. Check your alternator and battery cables.

13.5 with ac on, 14.1 with ac off, also if you have head lights on and tap the breaks and the head lights dim, in the past for me it indicated my battery was about to die...

Mine reads 12.4 to 12.8 via the gauge and the digital DIC but with a voltmeter on the battery or alternator it reads 13.9 to 14.2.

I get that same error message sometimes when I start my car. Not everytime. My car starts fine however but that message does make me a little nervous. At 65 mph and driving steady my volts range from 13.1 to 13.4

Default Is the optima battery the way to go?

Is the Optima battery the way to go or is there a better battery. Also is there such a thing as a gel battery? Someone told me about it, or is the optima a gel bettery?
