Just wanted to give a heads up to all about a problem I incurred today,
steering column locked when i was backing out of my drive way. I had the 1st rcall done and GM removed the lock plate (every thing seamed fine), then had GM do a 2nd recall on the steering column last week because of a theft code set when my service people did some electrical work on replacing a weather pac connecter, on the second recall GM replaced the lock plate. I'm having a flat bed come tomorrow morning to take my baby back to GM, any thoughts ? and please be careful the steering column locked up when I was half way down the drive way, no telling what would have happened if i were on the highway
I cannot understand why the dealer would replace the lockplate after they had already removed it.
You need to remove the lockplate and leave it out.
Then you can satisfy the BCM by either installing an aftermarket CLB or using the GM Harness K kit, which GM should install under the last recall.
