When the traction control activates does it cut fuel at all or does it simpply close the throttle blade? The reason I ask is I am just about finished with my nitrous install and I am not really all about sweeping my engine off the pavement because I gave it too much right foot.
I don't know what Vintage is driving but my 97 sure as heck cuts throttle! I hit it all the time autocrossing and at the track when I forget to turn it off. I think it just closes the throttle blade but the car stumbles bad enough that a fuel cut might be there too.
**SOME** cars have competition mode which is set by holding the traction button for 5-10 seconds with the car stopped and you'll see the DIC acknowledge this. In this mode only the brakes are modulated.
Does anyone know which models/years have competition mode? Is it only on the Z06's??
In a nutshell yes… there are several modules that interface to TB controller. PCM commands a throttle position via communications bus, the traction control outputs a pulse width modulated signal (PWM) this is then somehow summed or something similar and drives TB motor. TPS signal is then read by PCM and TB controller.
TC uses both brake and throttle/spark control. At lower speeds it tends to use the brakes first (like a fancy antispin axle) with power reduction if that doesn't work. At higher speeds brake application isn't fast enough so they use power reduction.

This explains why I have never seen it back off the throttle. I have only seen it come on at low speeds. good info
So the suggestion here would be use competition mode or off mode all the time. There is a plug in box out there that can make it default to either one every time you start the car.
