Have ordered some new stainless braided brake lines and wanted to see if I could install myself. What is the proceedure and how hard is this install and is it best to take it to a trusted installer? Thanks for the info.

Re: How to install new stainless braid brake lines? (DUKE)
Duke,
While I haven't done this mod, I would expect it to be a fairly straightforward remove and replace job. Once the new lines are installed, you must bleed all of the air from the system. Check with a repair manual or a (Vette) knowledgeable buddy for the proper bleeding procedure. Good luck and let us know how it works out.

SSBL's are one of the best things you can do for your C5 brake system! What type of lines did you get? Some types of lines cause Code problems.. :( I know this first hand... Dont install them until you post to this thread.

Vetterdste,
I got these lines from the GP purchase on the Corvette Mall here, I would hope they would not sell any that was not a match for the oem set. Which ones did you install that gave problems?

Rob,...I ain't takin no pictures...that's the ole brake fluid in the face and camera trick  Saw that on "Get Smart" tv program one night. You goin have to get up a lot earlier to pull one like that. Are you serious? You want to see how they look installed? I was just getting them for function and durability...never thought of showing them suckers off. :jester

I had the Russell lines and I doubt that running a Magnet over it will keep it from not grounding correctly. I have the Goodridge now and I have no problems with them.
Re: How to install new stainless braid brake lines? (DUKE)
In terms of the stainless steel lines causing problems with the wheel sensors, I spoke with the GM Engineering at Carlisle responsible for Chassis systems(ie. ABS/AH/TC) about the brake mods on my car. He indicated the setup I had would cause no problems with the brake systems. In fact he actually recommended the stainless lines as good brake mod for improved performance. What he did not recommend is the brake bias spring and using different pad compounds on the front than what is on the rear. Hope this helps. :yesnod:
