Is there any way to tell if my oil pressure sending unit is bad or if the dash itself is bad? The cluster gauge is pinned and the DIC says 140psi. The oil pump tests ok and is putting out the right pressure thru the scanner. Thanks.
Hi Jamie,
Yes, I would say that your sensor is probably bad. Your dealer will take a pressure reading from an adapter, screwed in place of the oil filter, and verify your pressure.
Then, they will have to remove the intake, to replace the sensor.
Best to you, c4c5
c4c5, Thanks for the info. Your help is always appreciated. Where is the sensor located? Is it under the intake or behind it ? Is it a big deal to remove the intake? I will be doing this myself, I have lots of experience with other engines, but Ive never really taken apart an LS1. Thanks again :p:
Hi Jamie,
The sensor is located behind the intake, not under it, and you will need about 3 hours, give or take.
Just remember, PLEASE, REPLACE your intake oring seals.
Best toyou, c4c5
When you speak of the o ring seals, you mean the intake gasket right? I would never take the intake off w/out replacing the gaskets. Would you happen to know the part #'s offhand for the pressure sensor and intake gasket? Thanks again.
