Need your input. My oil pressure reads (gauge and DIC) about 45-50 psi on start up. After engine warms up (oil, coolant), it levels to 20-22 psi at idle and 40 ish on throttle. Are these reading OK? Twenty something seems a little low. I had the pcm flashed (after recent mods-cam & headers) while waiting to get a tune from Xtreme Motorsports (hopefully next week ) . The shop I had the mini-tune said the psi was OK but I am concerned. Oil level is on the mark, nothing obvious that I am aware of.
Your pressure at idle is fine, I have a buddy with a stock Z06
that shows 19 at idle when hot. My car (w/H/C) would run 20 lbs
at idle when the oil was hot. I was using Valvoline 10-40 and a
AC UPF Gold filter ( breaking in my new motor). When I had about
1500 miles, on the motor, I changed to Redline 10-40 and new filter. Now my pressure
is 32-35 at idle when hot. It is possible the filter had a problem??
GM says that above 9 is OK. I have 19 hot idle. Oil temp 225. I find it low. I plan to replace rod bearing next winter. I did it on my C4 and PSI went from 10 psi idle to more than 30.
