I filled up the other day and my gauge showed I was out of gas. Then a few days later my gauge started to work again then it went to empty. Has anyone had this problem before?
A search of "fuel gauge" will give you a lot of info on this. Common problem. Mine did it and Techron cleared it up for awhile, but when it recurred for the umpteenth time, I had the fuel gauge sending units replaced under GMPP. Good luck!
Very common problem with these cars due to build up on the senders. Get a couple of bottles of Chevron Techron from your local auto parts store and run them through it, it will probably fix the problem. Use if for at least two full tank fulls. If problem keeps returning you may want to try a different brand of fuel.

Techron, big bottle that treats 20 gallons. Then buy only Chevron or Texaco, that has Techron in it, for a couple months minimum. Then plan on Techron 2 or 3 times a year or the first sign that your fuel gage is acting abnormally.

3 possible problems...
Simplest as described above.....
gasoline with inferior detergency permits deposit formation on sending units.... the short term fix.... fuel system cleaner...
Ones claimed to work... Techron, Berryman Chemtool B-12, Seafoam,
Valvoline Synpower, BG 44-K
second possibility corroded ground on sneding unit... clean the ground. do an advanced search... several posts complete with location and photos of the ground connection
third possibility faulty fuel sending unit --- requires replacement
Obviously start with the simplest easiest to correct.... add some fule system cleaner AND switch to a better brand of gasoline.
