I went to the track with my new Yank set up. Hot, Humid and no track Prep(normal for test and tune). I managed to pull off three 10.80s and one 10.90 @ 127 mph. Didn't change anything from the last time out when I was running 11.0s. I'm a happy Camper to get this out of a 346 and stock heads. New times in my Sig. 101 mph in the 1/8
Tom,
What is the str of that converter? That is a serious time you are running. Since you have had both PT and Yank maybe you can give us your impressions and end the argument which one is better once and for all

Re: I Got YANKED BIG TIME!!!!!! (CRUZMISL)
Ha, no comparison if you are a serious racer like Tom.
Yank makes 30 different converters, from mild to wild. Tom went with wild, and some serious racers on http://www.ls1.com go even wilder (ie 4400 stalls, etc).
How many converters does Pro Torque make....2?
Get Yanked, or get left in the dust! ;) :smash:
Great times Tom, must feel good to break into the 10s.
2000^C5, although you put "how many converters does Yank make...2", I am sure you meant ProTorque. However, if you call ProTorque, just like you have to do with something like this in Yank, you can have anything made you like. They are just as accomidating with stall speeds as Yank, or most other manufacturers for that matter. Just thought you would like to know.
Tom,
Great times! Congrats!
I still show people my BG drags video from the last CI, and I love showing them the front end of your C5 lift, demonstrating the weight transfer issue you helped me understand.

Re: I Got YANKED BIG TIME!!!!!! (Red98C5)
Thanks Dennis,
I did not know Pro Torque could make a 4400 stall converter for me with a 3.0 STR if I wanted it.
The reason I did not know this is I have never seen anyone with a PT that has something different than a 2400, or 2900 stall speed.
With Yanks, 3000 and 3500 are the most common for C5s, but for more serious racers (a few on here, and a ton on http://www.ls1.com), the stall speeds and STRs usually increase as the 1/4 mile times get faster.
I am sure other companies are good as well, but the bottom line is that Yank is the most popular among the fastest cars. You can't argue with success.
Look at Tom, he simply switched to the proper converter for his application and easily broke into the 10s in bad track conditions. To me, that's proof enough that Yank is ahead of the competition.
 Tom I knew you could do it! Absolutely impressive times with that basically stock engine! :smash: You Da Man! :D No one deserves this more than you!
Tom.. very impressive! From the pic, you are getting massive front end lift .. great weight transfer. When I spoke with you at the cruise-in, you mentioned that you are disconnecting the sway bar. Have you now disconnected the front spring and/or shocks also? You won't have to get that front end up a whole lot more to get some air under those skinnies!!!
Thats guys, I appreciate the support. I didn't want to start up the Converter war again. Their are a lot of choices out there. I was happy with the Pro Torque, I just wanted to try something different. Also I thought if their were any issues with the new Tranny, having the Yank converter would eliminate at least one problem.(if you know what I mean).
I guess I will have to take the picture out of my signature. I had my front shocks unhooked and now I have custom drag shocks on the car and the front end doesn't come up that high with the shocks hooked up.
I have never Dynoed my car. I do my testing at the track.
I will be heading for BG in the morning and hope to see some of you there again.
