Steering Column Problems - Error Messages
Well, I had the recall done on my 2000 steering column yesterday. When I got in my car to leave the local dealership I immediately had a "Low Oil" message. I never had the message before and my car doesn't burn oil. The car was a 1/2 qt down, but I don't think thats enough to cause the warning. The service tech topped off the oil with Mobile 1 but the warning message never went away. I'm heading down there this morning but I wanted to know if anyone knows about the steering column proceedure, and most importantly, can any sensors or wires be crossed to cause this condition. My oil pressure and temp are fine. Thanks for all the advice.....

Having just had the steering column and wheel out of my car, I don't remember anything in that area that could be disturbed which would cause that error. Maybe it's coincidence or maybe they got into some area they shouldn't have or broke something else.

I doubt there is a connection between the fix and your low oil warning. The low oil warning can occur at 1/2- 1 full quart of oil. Did you try to reset set the DIC? this usually works for me. I believe if you don't, it will take a few restarts before it will turn off.
