Default Column Lock

My 2002 MN6's column locked up last night. Couldnt get her to unlock.... had to tow it ot dealer. Recall had been done (the 2004 recall)... where do I stand with this now? Does the new bulletin (issued in feb 2006) cover this? My dealer is installing a new column lock now, at $450+install. Will GM cover this?

thanks

Denis

Default Update

Dealer called me back & said the actual column lock motor had gone, & had nothing to do with the recalls.

I then called my GM rep, which gathered all my info & called the dealership. I'm still waiting to see if it will be covered by GM.

Anyone have this exact situation happen?

I followed advice I got on this forum... called the GM rep directly, & after about 2 hrs, she called me back & confirmed I was covered!

I was extremely happy to hear this... thanks to all who gave advise... I LOVE this place!!

Now, my car is sitting at the dealership, waiting for a new column lock motor, & will only be there next week sometime The mechanics were trying to bypass the current defective motor, so I would have my car for this long weekend (Canada Day). I've heard some people simply take the column lock motors out... will this work?

Any other suggestions welcomed!
