never done one... or seen one done... is it possible to align my wheels myself? I accidently turned a tie rod a couple of times while removing the steering rack..
If you only turned the tie rod end, and not the alignment cams, you only affected the toe-in. The toe-in is always set last anyway since all other adjustments to caster and camber affect the toe.
You can mechanically check the toe in by scribing a line on the circumference of each tire on the tread surface. Then you measure the distance between the lines as close to the center line of the tire as you can on the front and back side of the tire. The toe-in is the difference in these two measurements.
Toe-in should be close to zero, and not more than 1/8 inch.
NOTE: The measurement should be less on the front side of the tire (toward the front of the car) than the rear side for toe-in.
