Default need colum help after reading "Sticky"

hey i read the sticky and yes i have a 2000 c5 with a 6-speed and i now have a locked column. the previous owner had the original recall fixed already. it still happened. so my quuestion is (i have a clb on order) if i read below correctly it will unlock my column for me before i install it? because i have tried it all and cant undo it before i install it...HELP!

Q When I purchase the CLB, what is the extra harness with the cigarette lighter plug used for?
A This is simply to help you unlock your steering column with the ignition key removed. It is used one-time only just before you install your CLB. It connects +12V to the purple wire on the Column Lock Motor to unlock your steering column. Another method is to turn on your ignition key, verify that your steering wheel is unlocked, then disconnect the wire harness to your lock motor. You will need to reset your BCM after doing this to clear the error that this will create.

thanks in advance!

i know you said you tried it all, but just for the heck of it try putting the car on a charger for a little while and then try starting the car again. ****** the wheel very hard to the left. i had the problem before the new recall was done. i have had 0 problems since the new recall was done. i was getting a locked colum often and the wheel jerk worked every time but one and that was solved when i put it on a charge. give it a shot then install the clb. does you car still have a locking plate? the wheel will still lock up if it does. if it has the plate the latest recall for your car has not been done yet. keep us posted.

First recall only programed m6 to stall at 2mph when column locked. Last recall removed the locking plate, you may want to take it back to the dealer.

The cigarette lighter is to unlock the present Column Lock while you are installing CLB. It is not necessary, you can unlock with the key. Unit has to be working before you install CLB.
I unlocked mine last time by vigouresly shaking wheel, after charging battery.
Good luck.

thanks! i know there was a reason i paid a fortune for a rolling starter/charger. i did have the first recall done but not the second. i figured i would get it working again with the clb and then take her in for the service. chevy told me to have it towed, but my car has been lowered and the suspesion altered. noooo way she is getting on a tow truck or flat bed safely.

thanks again guys, when i get back from my trip this week i will try the charger and let you know how it worked!

thanks,

chad
