When I used to autocross a Formula V many drivers would try to mod their cars to go faster. I found that most drivers were not as good as their cars were. I believe this is the case for most Corvette owners. When the car, not your ability, holds you back, then mod. However, learn to get the most out of what you have first :seeya
Almost everyone can get more out of what they currently have if they know how to use it better (probably doesn't just apply to cars!). If you aren't a pro go to an appropriate driving school. You can always mod the car when you can better afford it and be able to utilize it. Best of luck
IMO:, If you plan to race then perhaps driving school is a good idea. But if you just want a little more "oomph" passing those 18-wheelers on the two lane or maybe red light to red light with some yuppie scum in a 911 Turbo (which I'd love to have) then mods can easily be justified.
I installed the RM Racing Twin Flow intake on my '98 convertible and the difference was immensely noticeable. Does that mean that I think I'm ready for Laguna Seca? Hardly! But I sure love the increased pep in an already-peppy car.
And as for exhaust, I just ordered the Borla XR-1 Race system ($700 from C5performance.com!). Does that mean I'm going to race? Nope! But you'll sure hear me coming and going!!
With a little bit of shopping around, you can install cold air AND an exhaust for about $1000. Go for it! :yesnod:
0-vote this one is to tough to chew on intake seems to be best some need cold air some are built into car an honest person will sell you K&N or Donaldson to keep your price down.In other words theres so much redundaency potential ,I could give you more examples but our vedors seem to be hi quality I would guess that most dont get there get there hands real dirty and are entrepenuers yhat take yor order and ship and the integrity comes in when they say Im not sure let me find the answer, and then calls the customer And sells him the correcct product ay the correct price.
Happy day theres only ? till the holidays!!!
for "best HP for the $$" in the price range you speak, nothing will touch nitrous. where else can you bolt on 150hp for $500???? for under $1000 you can get a basic NX kit ($500) AND and cool air intake system ($400 for Ram Air Vortex, Coupler and Duct)!! BAM...you're done.
Best BANG for the buck always has been and always will be a NOS system
Other than that I would go with opening up that air box
Then converter
For $2000 --NOS + Converter +"cold air" you can EASILY run mid to low 11's.
