Default Ride Control

I've driven my 2000 vette for nearly 6,000 miles since I got it in March, and am very impressed with all the electronics behind the machine.

There is one thing I don't understand, someone might have insight:

As I look at my Ride Control panel in the center console, I see three options available - Tour, Sport, and Perf. Honestly, I notice absolutely no difference which of these is selected, so maybe someone else can tell me what's going on here. Does this control change my suspension somehow?

Yes, it changes the valving in your shocks. I don't notice a whole lot of difference unless I'm on a rough street. I use the perf. setting when I'm driving hard in the mountains of SoCal. I like the choices!

I'm in the same boat as you Computergeek. I've put about 2k miles on my new-to-me 97 vette and can feel no difference between the three settings. I've tried changing to tour at low and medium speeds and jiggled the wheel, then do the same on perf. and feel no real change.

I have a question to add on the same subject. If I buy new shocks and "upgrade" from factory to say Z06 shocks or other aftermarket sets, does that suspension still adjust?

The system really does work well. In Chicago the streets are crap and the performance setting will shake your fillings out and the touring is smooth as butter. If you want to change shocks you have to bypass the controls by either reprogramming your computer or use plugs which trick the computer into thinking its still connected to the original type shocks.

try driving down the same rough washboard road with the different settings, you'll feel the difference.
