Default Shocks

Can somebody give me advice on shocks for a 99 vette.

The car currently has a coilovers. The car has the electronic real time damping and active handling but non functional due to the current suspension. It is an M6. I am looking to purchase either stock shocks or aftermarket shocks that work with those systems. Can anybody steer me in the right direction with part numbers, advice?

Well, it's going to depend on what coilovers are on the car. I don't think you'll find anything other than the CO vendor that'll have any information about what shocks will work with that setup.

For sure OEM shocks are out.

Have a good one,
Mike

Well I find out what coilovers are on the car. I am just not sure if I want to keep it as is, or turn it to stock so those systems work.

I have unknown coilovers on the car. The car will be used for daily driving and maybe once or twice a year some time at the track.

Should I ditch the coilovers and go with a stock type suspension to allow for the active handling and real time damping systems to work.

Which setup performs better?

When ditching the coilovers what will I need to make the active ride control and real time damping work? Can you list part #'s?

Will those work with the active handling and real time dampening?

I think I am going to purchase some used low mile F45 shocks since it is my daily driver and not an autocross car. What springs can be used with that? Can I use Z51 or Z06 springs with it. I already have a Z06 swaybar to go on and all new bushings.

At this point it's really a matter of taste and $$$. I'd look for some Z06 springs, since you're running Z06 bars. If not those, then Z51 springs will work just as nicely (which is what I'm running now). Even stock springs will work OK.

Heck, you could probably sell your COs on Ebay and break even.

Have a good one,
Mike

anything wrong with your current coilovers? generally you have better adjustability and the ride is almost always better with coilovers. a lot of times people switch to coilovers and not the other way around

If you do switch to other shocks, I'd be interested in buying your coil overs if they're not trashed. PM me with details and price, pics if you have them, too.

Thanks!
