Default Which Endlinks?

Hotchkis $250 metal endlinks...
http://www.thunderracing.com/catalog...&vid=7&pcid=93

OR

GM HD metal endlinks for $80...
http://www.corvettegarage.com/produc...-corvette.html

What have you used? I am leaning towards the GM units for my 99 Z51 based on cost. Are the Hotchkis units that much better?

THANKS!

The hotchkis end links are adjustable. If you know how to setup a suspension and do it, then they are worth the money.

If you don't plan on adjusting them, then its a waste.

I got the GM metal endlinks, its going to be a long time before I know how to adjust the swaybars correctly.

The purpose of adjustable end links is to eliminate preload on the sway bars after you have your car corner weighted. Since virtually none of the C5s are going to have that done, just get the GM end links.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

I use adjustable Heavy duty from VetteBrakes. I have plenty of track days on them and they work great.

OKayy.. I was looking for someone who was using the "Adjustable endlinks" and has some experience with them. I've done a lot of research and words like "adjustable" "preload" "corner weight".. etc, I've read em all. Simple question - Can you plz tell me HOW TO adjust the adjustable endlinks. What settings I should use? I just ordered the Hotchkis sway bars set/ with endlinks. Its here, and I don't know what to do with it.. Plz help me, and some of us other who don't know how to adjust, and what adjustments we should make to install these..

I really need some help with this....

Any kind of info and help would be appreciated.

Thanks guys...

2001 Z06 still had plastic end links on the rear bar!

Do the VBP end links make any noisy? I got the factory T1 end links and they are horribly noisy. Need to find an adjustable end link that don't rattle so bad.

Sway bar adjustment is simple. With the car the way it normally runs (which means car resting on level ground, driver in the seat, passenger if you normally have one, half fuel, anything else you normally have in the car) you want zero preload on the sway bars. That means with the car as above you adjust the end links so there is not load. Once you adjust them and tighten the adjustment then the mounting bolt will slid right back in place. No preload on the bar is what your looking for. Preload is when the bar is always under load. With no preload you should be able to remove the end link bolt, slide it out with no problem, and slide it right back in. If the bar is preloaded then it will be hard to get the bolt out, as soon as it comes out the bar will pop up or down a bit, and it will be hard to get the bolt back in. With the car as above adjust your end links where the mounting bolt will slide right in with out effort and they will be at zero preload.

This can be tricky on a C5 because they are so low. It is hard to adjust the sway bar links with the car on the ground. A 4 post drive on lift is a good option, as it lifts the car by the tires and the suspension stays loaded.

Corner weighting is nothing more than putting a scale under each wheel and adjusting each spring until you have the LF + RR weights equal to the RF + LR weights. At the same time you want to be sure the frame stays level with a slight rake down towards the front. You will do these adjustments with all swaybar end links loose from the bar. Once your done corner weighting then you can adjust your sway bar end links to zero preload the reinstall the end link bolts.

I think you've given a good info here, but some of the technical words sound gibrish to someone like myself (not teachnical at all). SO, I'll try and repeat this in words I can understand. Plz let me know if what I understand is different than the actual facts.

1. First of all preload means - the car on ground, with both (front/rear) sway bars & endlinks removed. Car should be resting on Level ground, with driver weight inside for all stress points to streach and be, where they need to be.

2. While the car is in the above mentioned resting position, hook up the new sway bars with adjustable endlinks and slowly tighten the endlinks to a point where they fit tightly, but not pull anything inwards.

So, far this is what I have understood. Not sure if I got it or not. But after I remove the old swaybars/endlinks, and get the car up on a lift, this is how the endlinks should be adjusted - or so I think. Plz correct me, if I'm wrong.
