I dont really have a problem, but rather just wanted to vent a little. I cannot stand driving my M6 with the AC on. I guess from varying engine temps, sometimes the rpm's drop down real quick and sometimes the rpm's hang before dropping down. This amounts to a hell of a time trying to get smooth shifts. At least with the AC off, rpm's drop cosistently. And lucky me lives in Vegas, where you need the AC on a whole lot in the summer
I don't have problems so much with the shifts, but rather the starts. Kinda need to be mindful that it needs a little more go-pedal to keep from lugging, or worse, stalling it. Nothing more "impressive" than to dump the hammer a little too quick, and then doing a panic re-start. ("I meant to do that...")
Hummm I have a manual and use my a/c a lot. Im not understanding what you guys are talking about. I never really noticed anything like this.
We're just saying that with the a/c on, the compressor is placing a little more load on the engine. Old guys like me need to give it a little more loud pedal or else you get some mild drivetrain shudder.

Actually, the drag from the AC is'nt what I am talking about. What I mean is that the engine reacts differently at certain times with the AC on. I am pretty sure this has something to do with engine temps. If the engine reacted the same all the time with the AC on, that would be fine by me.
I have a 2000 M6 and also have had no issues with RPM varying with the AC on.
Might want to have your car checked.
What I am reffering to is not that big of a deal. Most of the time there is no problem. If I shut down for a gas stop or to the gym, when I restart, maybe 1/2 hour later, this happens for a few shifts. I know everybody drives and shifts differently & at different RPMs also, which may play a part. My Mustang GT used to drive me crazy also cause the AC compressor would kick on & off often, causing the same types shifting annoyances, for me anyway. I like to have velvet shifts all the time.
I don't think it's a temperature issue. If anything mine runs a bit cooler with the AC on. The fans come on with the AC on and I have actually put the AC on to bring the temps down in heavy stop and go traffic but I do notice a difference when driving with it on.
