I am relatively new to the corvette world purchasing my first in fall 2005. I own a 2003 coupe w/ 4800 miles. Purchased it w/ 2900 on it.... The car was (and still is...) in prestine condition. About 3 weeks ago, I notied a small spot of what appeared to be oil in the garage bay where it is kept. Since it is a week end driver only, I'm not sure when this started but it was not doing this when it received its out of winter check up in late March. Appears the oil spots are postioned near the rear of the car.
Any guesses as to what may be the issue here? Someone told me the gaskets can age more rapidly due to how much the car sits.... I will be taking it in to the Chev dealer before driving to PA for Carlisle in Aug but wanted to see if anyone had seen similiar issues.
Sounds like the dreaded rear end leak that is so common. Evidently this happens alot to C5's, whether the car sits alot or is driven daily. I am on my 3rd leak within 27000 miles I am gonna call GM's corperate office cause this is not right
Sounds like the old left side diff leak. You can do a forum search and find lots of pictures, tales of woe , etc. Some times first fix works, sometimes not. Good luck with your car. If you take it to a stealership be sure and have them look it up on their computor. GM has had a lot of input on this problem. Had mine fixed at dealer and they found a small sand casting hole in the left diff cover, so it isn't always predictible.

You maybe covered on your car and it's warranty. Sorry to hear, it happened to mine too.
Don't panic....well known problem. I have same problem. Find a good mechanic and have him keep an eye on fluid level at oil changes (especially if its onyl a few drips). My guy specializes in high end vehicles including corvettes and refuses to fix anymore rear diffs until GM comes up with a permanent fix. Says that the recommended fix is rarely permanent. His contacts tell him the GM is working on a better fix than what they currently recommend.
Have your person clean the area and monitor the levels and you should be fine if the leak is small.
