I have a large displacement motor (427, AFR 225's, Futral cam, Kooks 1-7/8 exhaust w/3" off road x pipe, etc. I am currently running Autolite plugs, will look and see heat range and edit later on. These were installed by W2W Powertrain in Troy, Mi., last fall when the car was done. I went one range colder than they did this spring to help with a slight spark knock, but went with the Autolite's again. Now it seems to smell a little "gassy", like unburned fuel, mainly at idle, and it sometimes has a slight miss, 'til you run it up through the gears and then it is fine for a week or so. I am thinking I went a little too cold on the plugs. I have heard that the NGK plugs are a good choice, but what #/range? Stock range, but NGK? Please help. Thanks, guys.
off roads=gas smell; I'd say W2W is in the top 5 for LS engine builders in the country, if not better; what did they suggest?
As my post said, W2W installed the original Autolite plugs, I just went 1 range colder than what they had installed originally. I have not discussed this with them yet. I agree that they are at least in the top 5 in the U.S.. I was just curious what the forum guys were running/recommending. I have to believe that W2W likes the Autolites, or they wouldn't have put them in in the first place. But if I remember right, a lot of the Forum guys are down on the Bosch plugs, and like the NGK's, for whatever reason. Maybe someone will chime in.Thanks for your reply.
