Default AC Problem - Warm on one side (resolved)

I recently had a problem with my AC. The passenger side would blow cold, while the driver's side would be warm. The car would finally cool down, but it took a good 15-20 minutes in this hot Florida sun.

I just had my coupe at the dealer for the column lock recall, and asked them to take a look at the AC as well. They called me the next day and said the AC was fixed and the car ready to pick up.

It turns out, the problem was it was simply low on refrigerant. Even though some on the forum swear thit cannot cause only one side to be warm on the C5, it appears it actually can be the cause. Just something else for people to check. (I did pull the AC fuses, as well as pull the battery cable, previously without any luck.)

I do have a question for those that have had AC work done on their C5. They evactuated the system, checked for leaks, and recharged. I was charged for a full 24oz of R-134 and I questioned why I received no credit for the recovered R-134. The tech said the system was basically empty.. That's fine; that's not really the bulk of the costs anyway. What I'm wondering about is the 1.5 hours of labor I was charged. I have no idea what goes into checking an AC system, evacuating, and recharging... Does this seem fair?

Default They probably ripped you off

if it was basically empty, then both sides would blow warm. they should have given you credit for the refrigerant that was in your system. You probably have a leak that they didn't find and you'll be back there in a few months.

Removing, checking for leaks, and recharging should not have taken more than 1 hour.

I've seen this done by the shop that I take my car to. It is simple process if they have the right tools. Just my $.02...
