Just wondering if anyone has either heard of or tried this. Was thinking it would be pretty cool to have an A6 C5, I imagine the there would be some electronics and computer swapping needed. Also can't find any pics of the a6 to see if it is even roughly the right size.

Nothing out there yet in terms of reasonable retrofit kits. There are a lot of us waiting for this to happen. Doesn't look like its gonna be anytime soon though.
It's a big project as you need to change a lot or parts.
the A-6 torque tube must be made shorter and then you have to use the rear from the A-6 and make mounts and rework the cradle for it to sit in, then you have to make it work by some TCM unit
But the trans has a lower torque rating than the stock 4l60-e unit as to gear box input torque.
the max torque as to Gm is 664 ft. lbs on the 6l80 and 670 ft. lbs. on the 4l60-e after the converter (a 4l80-e is rated by GM at 885 ft lbs input torque )
that is why they use a very very low STR converter (1.48 to 1.55 STR) with a short coupling RPM range to tone down the power transfer thru the 6l80 to allow for the higher Torque of the LS-2.
The 4l60-e has a 1.88 STR converter stock
