I just install my cooler with AN fittings and rubber hose, but now I am thinking hard line will be more trouble free and longer lasting.
Is there any problem running aluminum fuel line tubing with AN fittings, for the trans cooler? OR should I use steel lines?
What cooler did you install? Was it an easy job. Several people told me not to install a cooler as it does not buy you much and it is difficult to install? Any truth?
thaks

Don't use aluminun tubing for the tranny lines. They will vibrate at the coupling and break off. If you use any hard line, make sure it's steel.
OK, thanks for the warning. I'll pull them off and go back to using the rubber hose I already have made up. I was actually wanting steel line, but they was out of stock where I bought the fittings.
Fred Hamble: I used a B&M 70266 cooler. And no it's not that difficult to install, IMO. I am using all AN fittings, and I am not cutting the stock lines or anything. And yes they do drop the transmission fluid temp.
I'll go on record here...TRANS COOLERS work very good on the C5-A4
I agree. I run a B&M with a fan and before I couldn't run in hot weather traffic without my 4L60E overheating. I also installed a B&M larger tranny pan which adds three quarts of fluid AND a drain plug so you can change the fluid yourself really easy.

Do you have a link or a part number for that pan? and I am guessing it came with a differant filter too?

I got mine from Summit Part # BMM- 70260 cast aluminum $166.95 for 4L60/4L60E. Everything is included and you don't need a new filter they supply an extension for your pick-up. It adds 3 quarts and a drain plug and fill plug.
Jeg's has it under Part # 130-70260.
