Default pull key wait 10 seconds?

First thing in the morning, before going to work i sat in the car and put my key in. It then said "pull key and wait 10 seconds". Does anyone know what this means? Thanks in advance. .......Bye the way, i did pull the key and waited 10 sec. and it ran fine.

Column lock...read sticky.

I had the same thing happen to me after the dealer did the recall...fortunate for me that the dealer removed the CL.

Well, yes, could be the column lock, could also be a simple computer reset.

could be signs of something bad in your future .........like a k harness failure, or any number of things. fix it now or tow it later. well that is worst case anyway. hope it is just an isolated thing with your car but with all the problems that everyone seems to have with this if i had to do it all over again myself i would just get a bypass kit for $50 and forget about it.

Like a very wise mechanic taught me, two rules, a long time ago:

1. Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

2. Don't go looking for something to fix.

Until the car exhibits other symptoms, this could just be a simple computer reset. I believe everyone has had experience with rebooting their computer, and the C5 has quite a number of them that might need to be rebooted.

Other good one's to fix are RFA comm failure codes. Tyr fixing these:

U1016 Loss of Communication with PCM
U1064 Loss of Communication with BCM
U1096 Loss of Communication with IPC

Same thing as the key pull message, service TC system message, AH failure message, TPS failure message -- absent other indications, do what it says, and leave it alone.
