What should be the first reasonable mod of a 2001 convertible? A professional tune or an after market addition of some kind? What should I expect from each in terms of performance enhancement? What should I expect to pay? Anyone have thoughts on the best place to go in the Southeast Texas area?
I just bought my first mechanical mod. Vararam cold air intake. Or any true cold air intake. Next I'm saving for new rear gear, A4. I'm running 2.73's and there very sluggish off the start. Good luck with your decision.

This was my first mod as well. In order to get exact HP increases a dyno is necessary which I did not feel was necessary at the time. Since then I have done quite a few more mods.
Suggestions:
-See all of the different mods members have done (just do a search for "mods")
-Be advised that once you start it is hard to stop.
Get rid of that stock exhaust if you haven't already! It's terrible. I have Borla Stingers, but there are a multitude available.
Word to the wise - Vararam is finicky in the rain, since it's quite easy to get water up in there. If you are using as a daily driver, you need to be careful.
The VaraRam has been a very popular induction. Alot of people put that on the list for a few mod followed by the exhaust and/or headers. Some type of tuning (either hand held or customer) would be benefical after these.
