Default BCM replacement

May have damaged my BCM due to water leakage.....If I buy one from one of the vendors..how hard is it to replace...It is already programmed out of the box..What is the procedure for replacing.

Very easy to replace, 15 minutes or less. The problem is it must be programmed for you cars options. This must be done with a Tech2 which is a special tool that all the GM dealers have. A few other shops have them but mostly only GM dealers since they cost around $6,000.

The BCM is located in the passengers foot well, it is the shiny box on the left. I think there is one screw to remove, push the small tab that locks it in place, pivot it up and pull it out. Remove the three connectors and do the reverse to install the new one.

I just went through the A/C water leak on the BCM last week. I was able to save mine by drying it out really well with a hair dryer. I also dried out all of the connectors. I went throught the BCM re-learn process as well (search this forum for the procedure). Make sure you have thoroughly dried out your BCM and do the re-learn if needed before you make the decision to drop the $$$ on a new BCM.

That is very good advice! If you are going to buy one anyway you have nothing to loose. So before you buy a new one open up your BCM and dry and clean it up. One screw and bend a couple of tabs and the BCM guts will come right out of its aluminum box. Forum user "Bill Curlee" has cleaned and fixed them up before. Bill has lots of experience with water damaged BCM. He will probably chime in on the thread, I think he has lots of pictures too.
