A/C worked last time I drove the car, tried to turn it on today and when I pushed the a/c button, the light on it just flashes, then goes out. It blows out hot air. Anybody have this happen and know what it means??
Also, of course the display is dim, so its hard to see what mode it is in, so that doesnt help. when i "can" see the display it says the outside temp is -6

Thanks for any help
Needs a Charge and requires a charge of r132, but this could be the first sign you have a leak and this requires a A/C specialist to complete any work.
Mine does the same thing. What does your outside temp show? Did you say 6 if so that could be it, just a cheap sensor. I have been trying to locate my problem. All these things will cause the light to flash. High pressure sensor located left side on high pressure side. Low on freon. Computer problems. Compressor bad. I have been told the control head can also cause this to happen. This is the only thing I have not changed yet. If yours is dim you need a new one anyway, they sell them brand new for 200$. But I would check all the above. Also I would use a jump wire from the fuse box to the compressor and see if it turns on. I did that and mine runs ice cold and the light did not flash.

I may be way off but a few years ago i sold a 2000 frc with 74k on it. The day i sold it froze. And flooded the car on his long trip back. Maybe its freezing just a little and will not turn on.

And as for the dim display, there's a DIY fix for it. Condensed version: Remove the head unit, open it up, find the surface-mount power resistors, and re-solder. Do a search on "dim HVAC" and you'll find the procedure, complete with pics. (I did this on mine earlier this year, and it works like brand new again. Didn't cost a dime.)
Just had this happen Friday morning going to work, 87degrees at 7:30. Had the system vacuumed and refilled and working great. Tech did the sniff test and didn't find any leaks. Added dye this time to the freon so one will show up better if it exist. Not cheap, $140.50 where I went but I'm cool.
I ran the codes on the dic and came up with one current code - B0333 C.
Outside Temperature Sensor. I unplugged it, hoping the climate control would go to the default outside temp of 58 F like guys on here have said, but it didn't. It still reads 0, - 6, 17, real low temps and the a/c still wont come on. the button light just flashes, then goes off.
Hello, I'm not 100% sure but if the temp is showing that low it won't turn on. IIRC the sensor is on the passenger side of the grill opening in the front bumper.
Upon further inspection, the sensor and plug were pretty corroded. I cleaned them up with some pb blaster and plugged it back together. After driving for awhile, the temp outside temp read 69 (not correct), but the A/C came on when I pressed the button. Hopefully a new sensor will end this.
If you do not want to attempt the solder yourself

are you talking about the sensor in the front of the car? inside the shroud?

He did mine. It works great
Are the units tough to get out?? I've got some mechanical ability, did the clb yesterday. I thought about attempting this when I get an aftermarket shifter, so I won't have to take off those interior pieces twice.
