Yes, take out the steering wheel locking plate like the 4006C recall says, remove any K harness installed, tell them thanks, then get the car the hell out of the dealer as quick as possible. Install a CLB yourself. Good.

Yes...tell them to remove the relay mod which was previously installed and their K Harness will most likely work just fine without any errors.

I just took my Z in for warranty work and the service writer mentioned they would do the lock recall or whatever while it was in there, and I about took her head off. I said no way in hell are you to touch anything to do with my column lock! I said it is not a recall UNLESS I have trouble with it and if you even touch that part of my car ill have your a** for lunch.

She looked at me kinda weird and I smiled and said im serious lady, dont even think about it.

Default Latest Update Thursday

Dealer today told me that since my car was a canadian car the first and second recalls just reprogrammed the pcm thats it. According to him i have never had the harness k installed nor the relay. He said under the second recall a harness was installed on the passenger side not the drivers side. Today nothing has changed. It still locks up after they reprogrammed it twice. Yesterday they told me that it was not locking anymore after it was started but, could not get the "service Column Lock" to stop displaying on the dic. He said it was a bad actuator motor. They replaced that and guess what it still does the same thing locking up. Now he says they have a call into GM to find out what to do next. He also said they will not remove the locking plate because its a Canadian car. But they will remove it from the automatic canadian cars (that makes alot of sense?) this car has been in the US since 2001. Go figure.

Can anybody tell me the difference between recall 04006c and special policy #05081????

If I don't have the k harness installed can I still get the CLB and just put it in???

Thanks

A while back I helped a fellow up in Canada (Bernard LaBlanc). He installed a CLB and it would not work properly. It turned out "his car" already had the dreaded 2nd relay mod on the passenger side. Once we got that sucker removed and bypassed everything worked fine and he has been happy for quite some time now. Please check to see if you have the additional relay installed on the passenger side. Email me if you need instructions.
