Default Chirp?

I have a chirping sound from the engine. I hear it when I'm driving and pass something that reflects the sound back.
The dealer said it was the fan belt and said they fixed it. But now about 2 months later it's back.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Bob

Well i has a squeek, and i was sure it was a belt. Turned out to be a header gasket, may want to check it out. I never knew a header gasket could sound like this.

Its most likely the belt tensioner and or idler, common issue on some C5's. Have them changed and you should be good to go.

Thanks guys. I'm taking it in to a new place to be checked on Thursday. That gives me some sense of what I might expect.

Thanks again, Bob

Had intermitant "multiple chirps" - used a stethascope - found 3 bad pulley bearings - replaced all pulley bearings - NOW ALL IS GOOD!

You guys were good enought to offer suggestions concerning what the "chirp" that I was experiencing might be so I thought I should at least tell you the outcome.

I took the car to have it checked and then fixed. I told the mechanic what your suggestions were. He checked it out and concluded that it probably was the belts.

I told him to replace both of them.

Result: no more chirping!

Just thought you might like to know.

Thanks again, Bob
