OK...last week got the latest CL recall done on my 2000 A4...Got the K Harness and removed the column lock....now I know that I remove the K harness and plug in the CLB...Do I have to use the cigarette lighter thing also since I do have the latest recall done.
the cigarette lighter plug adapter can be used instead of turning the ignition key to the on position. So I can either use it or turn the key...
The cigarette lighter adapter is just to cycle the column lock actuator to the unlocked position without turning the key on. If you lockplate is removed, I don't think it matters, but to be safe, you might want to make sure the actuator is retracted.
Turn key on, unplug ECL while in the retracted position, turn key off, remove K Harness, install CLB. Do two ignition cycles and you should be good to go.
Installed the Corvettes of Houston CLB this morning...Not hard at all....Noticed that the GM harness that they installed last week as the latest recall service had a black relay that said C5 Solutions on it...also was surprised to see they did not hook up the other connecton to the
actuator motor...I suppose since I have an A4 and they replaced the lock with a plate...that wasn't necessary....but based on several threads it was presumed they do hook up the other connection on the harness....anyway...come what may I feel better already....
